Champions AC Milan closed the gap on Serie A leaders Juventus FC to two points with a 1-0 win over UC Sampdoria while FC Internazionale Milano are fourth after a 1-1 draw with SS Lazio.
Sixth win
Milan claimed their sixth win of the season thanks to a single goal from Andriy Shevchenko against a battling UC Sampdoria side. In a game of few chances, Serginho set up what proved to be the decisive goal 14 minutes from the end with a run on goal that was blocked by Sampdoria goalkeeper Francesco Antonioli. The loose ball broke to Shevchenko, who hit a first-time right-foot shot from 15 metres into an empty net.
Lazio level
Inter took the lead at the San Siro stadium a minute into the second half when Adriano scored with a left-foot diagonal effort that left Lazio goalkeeper Matteo Sereni helpless. However, Argentinian defender Leonardo Talamonti levelled with a header six minutes from time, meaning unbeaten Inter have now drawn seven of their nine Serie A fixtures. Juventus welcome AC Chievo Verona to the Delle Alpi stadium tomorrow.
