Panathinaikos FC lost their 100 per cent record, allowing AEK Athens FC to join them at the top.

By Vassiliki Papantonopoulou

Panathinaikos FC were held to a goalless draw on Saturday, spoiling the last remaining 100 per cent record in the Alpha Ethniki and allowing AEK Athens FC to join them at the top of the table.

Scasny debut
In their first game since the appointment of Zdenek Scasny last week, Panathinaikos' run of three successive victories came to an end with a 0-0 draw against Egaleo. Both sides could have stolen the win in the closing stages of the game with Egaleo's Daniel Eduseh and Panathinaikos' Emmanuel Olisadebe both hitting the crossbar in a frenetic final 15 minutes, but in the end they had to settle for a share of the spoils.

AEK late show
The dropped points allowed AEK to join Panathinaikos at the summit after the side scored twice in the final five minutes to defeat Iraklis FC in Thessaloniki. Alessandro Soares scored the winning goal deep into stoppage time to steal the three points after Kostas Katsouranis had converted a penalty on 85 minutes to draw the sides level. The home side had taken the lead just before half-time with a spectacular overhead kick from Abdulaye Keita.

Okkas rested
After losing to Xanthi FC in their last outing, Olympiacos FC returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against newcomers Ergotelis FC. Georgios Georgiadis and Georgios Anatolakis both scored close-range goals for a side missing the suspended suspended Antonios Nikopolidis and Grigorios Georgatos, while Ioannis Okkas was rested ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League game against AS Monaco FC.

Halkidona win
Olympiacos are now third, level with Halkidona FC, who defeated Aris Thessaloniki FC 2-1 despite falling a goal behind on nine minutes to a Ioannis Chrysafis penalty. The Athens side equalised before the half-hour through Christos Iliopoulos before the club's captain Georgios Zaharopoulos secured the points with seven minutes of the game remaining. Aris' city rivals PAOK Thessaloniki, meanwhile, were held to a 1-1 draw by Kallithea GS.

De Souza penalty
The game between Apollon Kalamarias and Xanthi also ended 1-1. Apollon took the lead on the cusp of half-time with a powerful drive from Altin Hadji but Xanthi controlled much of the second half, especially after Nikos Papadopoulos' 63rd-minute red card, and drew level with 12 minutes to go when Luciano de Souza converted a penalty. The game between Ionikos FC and Kerkyra FC finished 0-0, while OFI Crete recorded their first league victory this season with a 2-0 win against Panionios FC.
