Bolton Wanderers FC manager Sam Allardyce has agreed a new five-year contract with the Premiership club.

Bolton Wanderers FC manager Sam Allardyce has agreed a new five-year contract, which ties him to the English Premiership club until 2009.

Birthday celebration
Allardyce, who turns 50 on the fifth anniversary of his appointment at Bolton tomorrow, took the club up to the top flight via the play-offs in his first season in charge. Since then Bolton have survived a couple of relegation scares and gradually improved, with Allardyce's judicious signing of experienced players such as Youri Djorkaeff and Iván Campo.

Allardyce 'delighted'
The club finished eighth last season and reached the League Cup final, and with his team currently fourth in the Premiership, Allardyce told Bolton's official website: "I am delighted to have agreed a new deal. My first objective is to improve the academy with much-needed investment. This will become arguably my biggest challenge over the next few years."
