Celtic FC suffered their first domestic defeat of the season as Aberdeen FC won 3-2 at Celtic Park, allowing second-placed Rangers FC to close the gap at the top of the Scottish Premier League to four points with a 2-1 victory at Dunfermline AFC.
Early shocks
The champions had not conceded at home this season, but found themselves two down after just six minutes. Darren Mackie put the visitors ahead in the fourth minute from a corner, and two minutes later Celtic goalkeeper David Marshall's clearance bounced off Aberdeen striker Fernando Pasquinelli and rolled into an unguarded net.
Injury-time winner
John Hartson brought Celtic level with two goals either side of half-time, but 19-year-old substitute John Stewart summoned a dramatic winner for Aberdeen in the fourth minute of injury time.
Rangers revival
Rangers took full advantage, but had to come from behind after Craig Brewster gave Dunfermline a 22nd-minute advantage. Centre-back Jean-Alain Boumsong equalised early in the second half and Nacho Novo secured victory from the penalty spot on 57 minutes - his seventh seasonal goal.
Important victory
Hibernian FC defeated Livingston FC 2-1 with Guillaume Buezelin - his first for the club - and substitute Steven Fletcher getting the goals before half-time. Derek Lilley replied with a penalty for the visitors. Meanwhile, Kevin McKenna put Heart of Midlothian FC in front at Dundee United FC, but Craig Levein's side had to settle a point after Mark Wilson equalised on 57 minutes.
Morale boost
Inverness Caledonian Thistle FC moved off the bottom of the table on goal difference with a 2-1 home win against Dundee FC. Graham Bayne and Juanjo gave the Highland team a two-goal cushion and Dundee could only manage a consolation effort from Steve Lovell. Finally, Colin Nish's second-half strike earned Kilmarnock FC a 1-0 victory at Motherwell FC.
