Newly promoted Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 will be without Hungarian international Tamas Bodog for up to four weeks after the defender broke a cheekbone in training on Friday. The 34-year-old was operated on the same day and will be sidelined for "three to four weeks" according to team doctor Klaus Gerlach. The injury kept Bodog out of Saturday's 2-1 win against champions Werder Bremen.
Meanwhile, the German Football Association has banned VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Oliver Neuville for two league games after he scored with a deliberate handball in Sunday's 2-0 Bundesliga victory against 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The DFB ruled that the first of Neuville's two goals had been the result of "unsporting conduct".
Scotland's friendly international against Sweden on 17 November has been switched from Hampden Park, Glasgow to Hibernian FC's Easter Road stadium in Edinburgh. "It is only realistic to expect a smaller crowd for this match, and with Hampden likely to fall well short of capacity, we hope the fans will come along to back the national team in Edinburgh," a Scottish Football Association spokesman said.
