Juninho helps Lyon roar

Juninho Pernambucano scored twice as Olympique Lyonnais came from behind to defeat AS Saint-Etienne.

By Chris Burke

LOSC Lille Métropole and Olympique Lyonnais made the most of AS Monaco FC's surprise defeat to move joint-top of Ligue 1 with wins against Stade Rennais FC and AS Saint-Etienne respectively.

Moussilou magic
After finding the net against Shelbourne FC in midweek, Matt Moussilou grabbed the only goal of the game for UEFA Cup hopefuls LOSC with a header on 65 minutes. Rennes hit the woodwork twice but could not find an equaliser and Claude Puel's defence held firm to make it five straight wins without conceding a goal.

Govou winner
The 81st derby between Saint-Etienne and Lyon lived up to its billing as a stoppage-time strike from Sidney Govou completed a late comeback for the French champions. Urged on by 35,000 spectators, Saint-Etienne had been leading after second-half goals from Nicolas Marin and Pascal Feindouno cancelled out Juninho Pernambucano's 35th minute free-kick. But it was Juninho who levelled for Paul Le Guen's men with two minutes to go, following up after Jérémy Janot parried his penalty. With a draw seemingly on the cards, Govou drove in the winner to move Lyon second on goal difference, two points clear of Monaco.

Auxerre fourth
Belgian striker Luigi Pieroni's first goals for his new club helped AJ Auxerre up to fourth place with a 2-1 win away against Toulouse FC. Daniel Moreira converted from the spot to give the home side the lead in the 31st minute, but Pieroni struck back with a fierce free-kick on the hour and scored the decider 12 minutes later, putting Guy Roux's team ahead of Olympique de Marseille with a superior goal difference.

Sochaux held
After putting five past Stabæk IF on Thursday, FC Sochaux-Montbéliard had to settle for a goalless draw away against FC Metz despite creating the better openings. Wilson Oruma wasted Sochaux's clearest chance when he hit the post with goalkeeper Grégory Wimbée stranded. The point takes Metz seventh despite a poor run of five matches without a win, while their opponents slide into 14th.
