Thiriez retains LFP helm

France's Ligue de Football Professionnel board has re-elected Frédéric Thiriez as chairman.

Sole candidate
The only candidate for the role in charge of France's professional league, Thiriez was first elected on 28 May 2002, having joined the LFP initially in 1995. Last season the league produced two European finalists - AS Monaco FC in the UEFA Champions League and Olympique de Marseille in the UEFA Cup.

Future aims
He said: "My aim in the future is to turn France into a genuine leading football nation and, within the next four years, to be governing over one of the three strongest leagues in Europe."
