Winning goal
The visitors from north London were hoping to leap five places to fourth with victory today, but eleven minutes in their goalkeeper Paul Robinson was called upon to save from the lively Yakubu. Anthony Gardner headed on to the bar for Tottenham early in the second half, but just after the hour Lomana LuaLua sent in a perfect cross for the unmarked Yakubu to head in his fifth Premiership goal this season.
Fine defending
Some fine defending by Dejan Stefanovic in the closing stages ensured Portsmouth ended a three-match spell without a Premiership win and moved ahead of Aston Villa FC into 12th, now five points away from the bottom three.
