Kevin Lisbie helped Charlton Athletic FC to a share of the spoils against Newcastle United FC as the London outfit celebrated their centenary by moving into the top half of the English Premier League table.
Astute finish
Lisbie, celebrating his own 26th birthday, latched on to a throw-in on the edge of the box on 55 minutes and looped the ball over Andy O'Brien before finishing astutely past Shay Given. The goal gave Charlton parity after the visitors' Craig Bellamy had headed in Olivier Bernard's excellent left-wing cross in the 39th minute.
Unbeaten record
The Welsh international striker's goal helped liven up a damp affair, and after Lisbie's equaliser, both sides had chances to take all three points. Alan Shearer saw a header cleared off the line before Dennis Rommedahl and Matt Holland both hit the woodwork at the other end, meaning Graeme Souness was grateful to leave The Valley with his unbeaten record as Newcastle manager still intact. The north-east club now lie eighth, two places ahead of Charlton.
