First-half goals from Giuseppe Colucci and Marco Zamboni gave Reggina Calcio a shock win against Juventus FC - the Serie A leaders' first defeat of the season.
Milan opening
The result means that champions AC Milan, who entertain AS Roma on Sunday evening, have the chance to cut Juve's advantage to just two points with a victory. In front of 22,000 fans, the home side went ahead after 12 minutes when Fabio Cannavaro's attempted clearance hit Colucci and the ball flew over goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon and into the net.
Deflected winner
The Bianconeri levelled two minutes later when Zlatan Ibrahimovic beat Reggina keeper Salvatore Soviero with a powerful close-range effort. Twelve minutes later, however, Reggina – who began the match in 19th place - scored what proved to be the winner as Zamboni's free-kick was deflected by the wall and, although Buffon got a hand to the ball, he was unable to prevent it rolling over the line.
Juve chances
The visitors hit back and largely controlled proceedings but did not manage to take advantage of the many chances they created. Marcelo Zalayeta's header hit the post nine minutes into the second half and, with Fabio Capello's team throwing everything forward, Olivier Kapo's strike was disallowed due to offside four minutes into stoppage time.
Late clincher
Elsewhere, Markus Schopp gave Brescia Calcio a 1-0 home win against AC Chievo Verona. The Austrian international midfielder, back in action after a one-month lay-off, scored the only goal four minutes from time, eluding his marker with a fine piece of control and leaving Chievo keeper Luca Marchegiani helpless with an emphatic finish.
