Shelbourne FC retained the Irish Premier Division title for the first time thanks to a 0-0 draw at Saint Patrick's Athletic FC.
Dozen titles
The reigning champions only needed a point on the final day to end the challenge of Cork City FC, and the goalless result ensured Shelbourne took the league trophy for the 12th time, a tally only bettered by Shamrock Rovers FC's 15.
Cork enter UEFA Cup
Even if Shelbourne had lost, the title would have been theirs as Cork also drew, 1-1 with third-placed Bohemian FC. Shelbourne, who reached the UEFA Champions League third qualifying round this season will again enter the competition, with Cork and FAI Cup winners Longford Town FC going into the UEFA Cup.
Dublin demoted
At the bottom, Dublin City FC had long been demoted, with ninth-placed Shamrock Rovers - who this month poached manager Roddy Collins from their lowly rivals - saved from a first-ever relegation by the fact the top flight is expanding to 12 teams next season. First Division champions Finn Harps FC, runners-up University College Dublin FC and third-placed Bray Wanderers AFC are promoted.
