By Jonathan Caswell

Norwich City FC lifted themselves off the bottom of the Premiership table with a 1-1 draw at Manchester City FC on Monday night.

Volleyed opener
The home side went in front after eleven minutes as Shaun Wright-Phillips burst down the left and crossed for 19-year-old Irishman Willo Flood to strike a first-time volley from 20 metres that Norwich's highly-rated goalkeeper Robert Green could only fumble into the net.

Rapid equaliser
Damien Francis levelled for Norwich 12 seconds into the second half with the home side's defence in disarray. Manchester City had the better chances to win the match, but another Flood effort struck the post while Craig Fleming bundled Robbie Fowler's shot off the line.

Seven draws
Norwich have still to record a league win this season but the point lifted their tally to seven, the same as Blackburn Rovers FC but above Mark Hughes's side on goal difference. Manchester City moved up one place to 12th on 12 points.
