A late equaliser from Emerse Faé spared FC Nantes Atlantique from suffering a sixth consecutive defeat as they salvaged a 2-2 draw at home against FC Sochaux-Montbéliard in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
Ilan goals
Nicolas Savinaud gave Nantes the lead on 20 minutes, but Brazilian striker Ilan's seventh and eighth strikes this season looked for a long time like securing an important win for Sochaux that would have moved them up into fifth place. The summer-signing headed Sochaux level from a corner eight minutes after going behind and punished goalkeeper Mickaël Landreau's handling error in first-half added time to put the visitors firmly in control.
Nantes relief
Under-pressure Nantes responded well in the second-half but seemed set for another loss before midfield player Faé volleyed past Teddy Richert to earn Loïc Amisse's team a share of the spoils with just three minutes remaining. The result leaves them a solitary point clear of the relegation zone, while Sochaux have to settle for eighth place, 12 points behind leaders Olympique Lyonnais.
