Rommedahl raids Palace

A last-gasp strike from Dennis Rommedahl handed Charlton Athletic FC victory against Crystal Palace FC.

A last-gasp strike from Dennis Rommedahl handed Charlton Athletic FC all three Premiership points from their south London derby against Crystal Palace FC on Sunday.

Low drive
Danish international Rommedahl, who joined Charlton from PSV Eindhoven during the summer, has played just one full game for Alan Curbishley's side and came off the bench again to sink struggling Palace with a wicked low drive two minutes into added time, his first goal for the club.

Missed penalty
It was the only goal of the game between Palace and their former Selhurst Park tenants Charlton, but Andrew Johnson should have given the home side the lead. The Palace striker, who has scored more Premiership goals than any other Englishman this season, saw his 58th-minute penalty expertly saved by Dean Kiely.

Relegation battle
The result lifted Charlton into the top half of the table while Palace, who have now not won in six games, remain one point above the relegation zone and face fellow strugglers Blackburn Rovers FC next weekend.
