Maniche hails perfect Porto

"We got what we deserved," said Maniche after starring as FC Porto lifted the Toyota Cup in Yokohama.

Pedro Emanuel's spot-kick, the 18th of a rollercoaster penalty shoot-out, ensured FC Porto hoisted the 2004 European/South American Cup following a goalless draw with CD Once Caldas in Yokohama. The 43rd and final staging of the competition before FIFA's remodelled World Club Championship begins in 2005 ended goalless and Diego's dismissal during a lengthy penalty shoot-out was the only blemish on a victory which completed Porto's wonderful year.

Maniche, FC Porto midfield player
Everyone fought hard for this title so it's very gratifying. It's a final so we expected a tough battle. But we got what we deserved.

Luis Fernando Montoya, CD Once Caldas coach
Porto kept possession better than we did. Our players were relaxed and confident about winning but penalties are always a lottery.
