Beira-Mar choose Chovanec

Former Czech Republic coach Josef Chovanec has been appointed coach of Portuguese SuperLiga club SC Beira-Mar.

Mladenov assistance
Chovanec, who has signed a contract until the end of the season, will be assisted by former Bulgaria coach Stoicho Mladenov. The pair will be officially unveiled on 27 December.

Cajuda departure
Chovanec, who won 52 caps for Czechoslovakia and coached the Czech national team between 1998 and 2002, replaces Manuel Cajuda, who left the club last week. Beira-Mar lie 16th in the 18-team Portuguese top flight.
