Tottenham take Mido on loan

Members

Tottenham Hotspur FC have reached an agreement to sign Egyptian striker Mido from AS Roma for 18 months.

Tottenham statement
"The club is delighted to announce that it has agreed terms with Roma and Mido for the highly-rated striker to join us on an 18-month loan, subject to the completion of formalities over the next couple of days," Tottenham announced on their website.

Limited opportunities
The 21-year-old moved to Roma last summer, signing from Olympique de Marseille in a €6m deal. But Mido, who has also played for AFC Ajax and RC Celta de Vigo, has struggled to settle in the Italian capital, making just eight Serie A appearances, all as a substitute, and four in the UEFA Champions League, also from the bench.

Promising talent
In addition, Tottenham are close to securing the services of SC Excelsior's Dutch Under-21 international Mounir El Hamdaoui. "The club has agreed terms for the striker to join us on a three-and-a-half year contract, also subject to the completion of formalities," a Tottenham statement said.
