Sporting Clube de Portugal squandered the chance to climb to the top of the Portuguese SuperLiga after being held to a 1-1 draw at home by Vitória FC.
Superb lob
After a goalless first half, the visitors went ahead in the 51st minute with a superb 30-metre lob from Jorginho that left Sporting goalkeeper Ricardo helpless. The home team responded well and equalised six minutes later when a curling corner from Pedro Barbosa flicked off Sporting striker Liedson and found its way into the net.
Liedson miss
In the final minutes, Sporting pressed forward but the league's top scorer Liedson spurned a late opportunity that would have given his side three points. Sporting therefore moved up to second in the table with 35 points, one less than leaders SC Braga, while Setúbal are eighth on 28 points.
