Birmingham City FC have completed the signing of striker Robbie Blake from Burnley FC for a fee of €1.8m.

Long-term contract
The 28-year-old has signed a contract running until summer 2008, and is the English Premiership club's second attacking signing of the month following the arrival of Finnish Under-21 international Njazi Kuqi. Blake, who could make his debut at Charlton Athletic FC on 15 January, joined Burnley from Bradford City AFC in 2002 and scored 13 goals as club captain this season.

Bruce confidence
Birmingham manager Steve Bruce said: "Robbie is a player who I am confident can make the step up into the Premiership. I felt it was important we brought in another striker at this stage. Losing Mikael Forssell was a big blow earlier in the season and, with Dwight Yorke injured, it has not been healthy to have only two fit strikers for the last few weeks."
