SC Braga shot to the top of the Portuguese SuperLiga table after defeating FC Porto 3-1 at Estádio do Dragão at the weekend. Sporting Clube de Portugal can usurp them if they overcome Vitória FC in Monday's match, but Braga will nevertheless enjoy their time at the summit.
Headed goals
Victor Fernandez's Porto team went behind after 23 minutes, when Braga striker João Tomás scored with a header. Diego equalised ten mintes later from the penalty spot, but four minutes before half-time Wender put the visitors back in the lead with another header. On 75 minutes João Tomás made the result safe for Braga, who moved top for the first time this season.
Benfica victory
SL Benfica returned to winning ways in the SuperLiga by defeating Moreirense FC 2-1. Nuno Gomes scored after nine minutes and Nuno Assis added a second on 37 minutes. Afonso Martins reduced the arrears in the 75th minute but an equaliser could not be found.
Late equaliser
Gil Vicente FC and Boavista FC played out a 2-2 draw. Gregory opened the scoring for Gil Vicente but João Pinto equalised on 51 minutes. With ten minutes left, Carneiro restored Gil Vicente's advantage before Hugo Almeida made it 2-2 with two minutes to go.
Other results
Elsewhere, CS Marítimo defeated lowly FC Penafiel 1-0 while CF Os Belenenses overcame Rio Ave FC 2-1. UD Leiria travelled to struggling GD Estoril Praia and drew 1-1, both goals coming in the first half. Strugglers SC Beira-Mar lost 3-0 at home against CD Nacional, while bottom club A. Académica de Coimbra lost 2-0 at the hands of Vitória SC with second-half goals from Marco Ferreira and Targino.
