No cheer for relegation rivals

Premiership strugglers West Bromwich Albion FC and Southampton FC cancelled each other out on Tuesday.

Southampton FC missed out on the chance to climb out of the Premiership's relegation zone as they were forced to settle for a goalless draw away against fellow strugglers West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday night.

Woodwork shaved
Southampton striker Henri Camara failed to score for the first time in four matches, going closest when the home goalkeeper Russell Hoult tipped over his goalbound header, and recalled midfield player Nigel Quashie also went close. West Brom's Kieran Richardson shaved the woodwork with a long-range effort but, besides that half-chance, his team-mates struggled to break down a well-organised visiting side still searching for their first away win of the season.

Late chance
David Prutton could have sealed that elusive victory but failed to hit the target from five metres out late in the second half. A share of the spoils is worth little to either side, lifting Saints up just one place to 18th and leaving West Brom rock-bottom with eleven games remaining.
