Bayern broken by Buckley

Delron Buckley scored twice as DSC Arminia Bielefeld defeated Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München.

By Mark Bennett

Two goals from Delron Buckley handed DSC Arminia Bielefeld a shock 3-1 win against Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München on Sunday.

Porcello opener
After Massimilian Porcello had given the home side the lead in the first half, the South African striker doubled Bielefeld's advantage on 61 minutes. Lucio pulled a goal back to give Bayern a chance to take something from the match but Buckley restored the two-goal cushion just three minutes later to seal the home side's first victory in seven matches.

Leverkusen linger
Bayern retain first place despite the defeat but now FC Schalke 04, who defeated VfL Wolfsburg 3-0 on Saturday, are on equal points and separated only by goal difference. The loss also reignited Bayer 04 Leverkusen's slim hopes of title success after Klaus Augenthaler's side closed to within six points of the summit with a 2-0 win against 1. FSV Mainz 05.

Bayer back in contention
Mainz have lost their last seven away games and although they held out for over an hour at the BayArena, once Paul Freier broke the deadlock on 64 minutes, the writing was on the wall for the visitors. Jacek Krzynowek doubled the lead five minutes later and Leverkusen cantered to a win that sees them rise to sixth in the Bundesliga. Mainz remain 15th.
