The appeals body of the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) has ordered ADO Den Haag to pay a €40,000 fine and to play one match behind closed doors, with the latter sanction being suspended for one year. The punishment follows events at Den Haag's Eredivisie game against PSV Eindhoven last October, which the referee had to abandon with ten minutes remaining due to the hostile reaction of home fans to a failed penalty appeal. The KNVB had earlier handed Den Haag a two-match stadium ban (with one suspended) but revised this decision as the club argued that they stood to lose €200,000.
Dutch side NEC Nijmegen have agreed a deal to re-sign striker Giulliano Grot, who was the club's youngest ever debutant when making his first-team bow in December 2000 as a 17-year-old. Grot subsequently moved to Germany's 1. FC Bocholt before returning to the Netherlands last summer with lower-league club De Treffers/Kegro Deuren.
Former Armenian international Armen Adamyan has returned to his country to take up a post as head coach of Premier League team FC MIKA. The 37-year-old has signed a one-year contract. Adamyan coached FC Darida Zhdanovichi in the Belarussian top flight last season, before leaving to study for a coaching certificate in Moscow. However, Suren Barsegyan's decision to quit MIKA - whom he guided to Armenian Cup glory and runners-up spot in the league in 2004 - for Lebanese football created a vacancy that Adamyan found impossible to refuse. Adamyan made his name as a player in Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia.
MIKA's Armenian international midfielder Davit Grigoryan has moved to Kazakhstan to join FC Yesil Bogatyr Petropavlovsk. The 22-year-old playmaker scored eleven goals in 22 league games last term to earn a call-up to the national side. His transfer follows a successful trial with Yesil Bogatyr, who have former MIKA player Aram Voskanyan in their ranks.
After sacking head coach Marc Wilmots last weekend, Belgian outfit K. Sint-Truidense VV have appointed Peter Voets as first-team coach. Voets will work under technical manager Guy Mangelschots. The 36-year-old is a former Sint-Truiden right-back, having ended his playing days last summer to become coach at fourth division Verbroedering Maasmechelen. Meanwhile, Sint-Truiden are still searching for a replacement for Wilmots.
