Dyer dismantles brave Bolton

Members

Kieron Dyer sealed Newcastle United FC's victory against Bolton Wanderers FC in the Premiership.

Quick response
Lee Bowyer gave Newcastle the lead after 35 minutes at St James' Park with a header from a Stephen Carr cross. But their one-goal advantage lasted just six minutes as Stelios Giannakopoulos levelled the scores with a 41st-minute volley.

Dyer winner
However, Newcastle’s Kieron Dyer earned his team all the points when he scored from a rebound in the 69th minute after Alan Shearer's initial shot had been saved by Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen.

Early Charlton goal
Middlesbrough missed out on the chance to move up to fifth place after a 2-2 draw with Charlton. Matt Holland had given Charlton a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute, and they held that advantage for the majority of the game until Chris Riggott made it 1-1 with 16 minutes left.

Late goals
South African striker Shaun Bartlett looked to have sealed a vital away win for Charlton when he scored with just ten minutes left, but a header from Danny Graham in the 86th minute meant the match ended all square.
