"We all believe this is in the best interests of the club," said a club statement on the ending of Keegan's three-and-a-half year reign. "His professionalism, infectious enthusiasm and drive for success have benefited all areas of the club."
UEFA Cup
The 54-year-old joined City in 2001 after standing down as England manager and within a season had led the Sky Blues back into the Premiership. A UEFA Cup campaign followed in 2003/04 - albeit via the Fair Play rankings - but a second-round defeat by Groclin Grodzisk Wielkopolski sparked an alarming dip in form.
Pearce caretaker
Results this term have been mixed, with the club in 12th position following Monday's 1-0 loss to Bolton Wanderers FC. Former England defender Stuart Pearce, one of Keegan's assistants, has been appointed caretaker manager until the end of the season.
