FFF role for Lambert

Members

Jacques Lambert is the French Football Federation's new director general, assisting president Jean-Pierre Escalettes.

Effective No2
The 57-year-old, who played a major role in France's hosting of the 1998 FIFA World Cup, has replaced Gerard Esnault who left the FFF on 31 March. Lambert will be the effective No2 to incoming FFF president Jean-Pierre Escalettes who was elected on 12 February 2005.

Sporting career
Lambert's sporting career began when he organised security at the 1992 Winter Olympics at Albertville. He subsequently became the CEO of France's World Cup organising committee in 1993, working closely with the organisation's two presidents Fernand Sastre and Michel Platini. More recently, he worked as the president of ISE Hospitality who were involved in organising accommodation and sponsor management for the 2006 World Cup.

Friendly cancelled
At the same time as confirming Lambert's appointment, the FFF also announced that France would not be sending a side to play a friendly game in China in June. "We cannot afford to play this friendly," said Escalettes. "We are trying to save money and each game we play must be economically justifiable."
