Relegation fight
The 50-year-old will hope to succeed where Mick Wadsworth, Manuel Cajuda and Luís Campos - who quit after Saturday's 3-1 home loss to FC Penafiel - have failed, although Beira-Mar are bottom of the 18-team table with 23 points from 27 games. However, the outgoing coach still feels the side "can escape relegation" as they sit just three points from safety.
Title success
Inácio is a former Portuguese international left-back who began his coaching career as assistant to Bobby Robson at FC Porto. He later led Sporting Clube de Portugal to the league title in 1999/00 before taking charge of Vitória SC, CF Os Belenenses and, earlier this season, Al-Ahly FC in Qatar.
