Rohr on the way out at Nice

Members

French side OGC Nice have suspended coach Gernot Rohr with a view to firing him, with Gérard Buscher taking over.

'Termination of contract'
Today the club said they had "provisionally suspended Mr Gernot from his duties and launched a disciplinary action against him which could lead to the termination of his contract." The move follows criticism by Rohr, the 51-year-old former FC Girondins de Bordeaux coach, of the Nice directors.

Successive defeats
Nice lie fourth from bottom of Ligue 1, three points above the relegation places, after successive defeats by SM Caen, the second-bottom team, and Paris Saint-Germain FC, last Saturday.

Three-year tenure
"President Maurice Cohen called me to say that the board had decided to end our collaboration," said the German, who led Bordeaux to the 1996 UEFA Cup final. Rohr has been in charge at Nice since 2002. His direct replacement, 44-year-old reserve team coach Buscher, takes over for the last four games of the season. "I know all the players and could not refuse this honour," he said.
