Barcelona CF's Argentine striker Maximiliano López will miss the rest of the season after breaking a bone in his right foot, the Primera División club said on Saturday.
'Fracture'
"We carried out some x-rays but they showed us very little," said club doctor Jordi Arevol. "But some new tests revealed that he had a fracture. Now we are waiting to decide on a date for surgery." The 21-year-old striker, who joined Barca for €6m on a four and a half year deal during the January transfer window, is likely to be out of action for up to three months.
Eto'o back
The injury to López means the only recognised striker left in the Barcelona squad is Samuel Eto'o. The African Player of the Year suffered a recent knee injury, but returned to action in last week's 4-0 victory over Málaga CF.
Larsson out
The club's other striker, Henrik Larsson, is still recovering from a serious knee ligament injury which he sustained last November. Barcelona lead the Primera División by six points from Real Madrid CF with five games left to play until the end of the season.
