Two defeats
Van Dijk and his assistant Erik van der Meer were relieved of their duties this morning, although Van der Meer will remain in charge of the reserve team. The club acted after Roosendaal lost 2-1 at home to last-placed FC Den Bosch and then 3-0 at FC Groningen - leaving them ten points from safety with six games to play.
Meppelink in charge
"The board and management no longer have faith in the coaching team," said Roosendaal. Rob Meppelink, the club's manager of football affairs, will take over temporarily as the side bid to lift themselves from 16th place, the final relegation play-off position.
Maaskant replacement
The 48-year-old Van Dijk, a former Groningen midfielder, joined Roosendaal on a two-year contract last summer as successor to Robert Maaskant who left for Willem II. The ex-Groningen and Roda JC coach had been working at second division Helmond Sport.
