Lowly Levante look to Oltra

Struggling Spanish Primera División side Levante UD have replaced coach Bernd Schuster with José Luis Oltra.

Struggling Primera División side Levante UD have appointed José Luis Oltra as head coach after parting company with Bernd Schuster following Sunday's 1-0 defeat at home against Málaga CF.

Precarious position
Schuster, 45, was dismissed on Sunday evening after his team slipped to their 17th league defeat of the season against Málaga. It means that Levante are still in a precarious position, hovering just above the relegation zone in 17th position with 35 points. They have a tenuous four-point advantage over RCD Mallorca with four games remaining, against Albacete Balompié, FC Barcelona, Valencia CF and Villarreal CF.

Tough task
The club's board of directors have handed youth team coach Oltra the task of maintaining the team's top-flight status. Before this season, the 35-year-old had been coach at third division CD Castellón.
