Agents' role on the agenda

Stakeholders

The role of agents in European football was discussed by a working group at UEFA's Nyon base.

Action requested
UEFA was asked on several occasions by key stakeholders to take action regarding the role of agents within professional football in Europe. In response, a working group has been created by UEFA to look at the situation. The working group comprises experts from all key stakeholder groups such as agents, associations, clubs, leagues, player unions and FIFA.

Wide-ranging discussions
Today's discussions in Nyon centred on the key issues and problems in this area, both on a European level but also taking into account the wide range of different experiences and practices occurring at national level. The purpose of the working group is to develop recommendations and proposals to improve the situation within professional football across the continent.

Illustrious group
Members present at this meeting included UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson, and representatives from several top European clubs, including Arsenal FC and Juventus FC. The French, Dutch and German associations were also represented, as was FIFA.
