D'Angelo answers Chievo call

Members

Coach Mario Beretta has left AC Chievo Verona, who have appointed assistant Maurizio D'Angelo as his replacement.

D'Angelo steps in
Beretta, who replaced Luigi Del Neri last summer, is the tenth coach to lose his job in Italy's top flight this term. D'Angelo spent 14 seasons with the Verona side as a player, making 329 league appearances and captaining them in Serie A. The 35-year-old retired from playing at the end of the 2003/04 campaign and moved into coaching.

Relegation threat
Chievo are currently third from bottom in the table with 36 points from 35 games, two points adrift of safety. The Verona team will face AC Siena - who currently occupy 16th position, two above the relegation zone - Bologna FC and AS Roma in their final matches.
