The 28-year-old arrived at the Olympiastadion for €2m from VfL Bochum 1848 amid much fanfare last summer and was expected to increase the competition for places up front alongside Roy Makaay. However, he failed to score in nine Bundesliga matches and two outings in the UEFA Champions League.
Prolific season
Hannover will hope Hashemian rediscovers the form which brought him 16 top-flight goals in the 2002/03 campaign after handing the forward a three-year contract.
