Lizarazu to play on at Bayern

Marseille stint
Lizarazu returned to Munich during the January transfer window after six months with Olympique de Marseille. He signed a short-term deal until the end of the current campaign, but stated he would either continue with Bayern or retire from playing.

Lahm misery
By offering an extension to Lizarazu, the club are gaining cover for German international Philipp Lahm, who suffered a cruciate ligament injury today and faces six months on the sidelines. The 21-year-old, who will rejoin Bayern this summer after two seasons on loan at VfB Stuttgart, had been intended to succeed Lizarazu at left-back.
