Three-year deal
The 28-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with the Primera División champions, with a further one-year option, and will move when his current contract expires on 30 June. He becomes Barça's second summer signing, following PSV Eindhoven's Mark Van Bommel.
'Quality player'
According to the club's technical director Aitor 'Txiki' Beguiristain, Ezquerro will fit right in at the Camp Nou. "Santi fits the profile of the kind of player we are looking for and, better still, he is out of contract at the end of next month," he said. "He's a quality player who makes intelligent choices on the field. He's versatile and he's a proven goalscorer."
Track record
Ezquerro started out with CA Osasuna before joining Club Atlético de Madrid in 1996. After three seasons in the capital and then another at RCD Mallorca, he moved to Athletic where he has scored 59 goals in 259 appearances.
