Four-year deal
The 21-year-old English Under-21 international will sign a four-year deal with the Premiership club on Wednesday, with the fee likely to increase to €4.4m depending on appearances.
'No doubt'
"I had no doubt whatsoever that this was the club I wanted to join," said Bent, who still had one year to run on his contract with Ipswich. "I have been impressed by their plans for the club on and off the field. I am convinced Charlton can go from strength to strength and I very much want to be part of that."
Regular scorer
Bent made his Ipswich debut in November 2001 and went on to make 126 league appearances for the club, scoring 50 goals. He scored 20 goals in 47 appearances last season as Ipswich finished third in the Championship, narrowly missing out on promotion the Premiership.
Charlton fade
Bent will add important firepower to a Charlton side that managed just 42 goals in 38 matches last season. The south London club finished in eleventh on 46 points after challenging for a European place for much of the season.
