Bernd Schuster has been appointed coach of Spanish Primera División club Getafe CF, after leaving Levante UD.

Staying up
Levante were subsequently relegated on the last day of the season, whereas Getafe achieved the security of 13th place in what was their debut campaign in the Primera División. Schuster, 45, has signed a one-year contract with the Madrid-based team, filling the vacancy left by Quique Sánchez Flores's departure for Valencia CF.

Well travelled
A former German international and FC Barcelona and Real Madrid CF midfield player, Schuster was previously in charge of Xerex CD in Spain's lower leagues as well as SC Fortuna Köln, 1. FC Köln and FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
