Fresh competition
The 24-year-old, ever present last season after breaking into the starting XI in mid-October, could have competition for the No1 jersey from new signings Bernd Meier and Dennis Gentenaar but had no doubts about putting pen to paper. "I'm delighted. I'm convinced Borussia are on the right track," Weidenfeller said.
'One of Germany's best keepers'
Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc added: "Roman is definitely one of the best goalkeepers in Germany. I'm glad we could reach a further agreement with him." Weidenfeller could play this weekend when Dortmund start their Intertoto Cup campaign at home to SK Sigma Olomouc.
