Article body
Newcastle United FC have taken time out from their UEFA Intertoto Cup campaign to sign Craig Moore, who has left VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Two-year contract
The 29-year-old Australian defender first came to Europe in 1993/94 with Rangers FC, and stayed until January of this year other than for a short spell at Crystal Palace FC. Having been released by Mönchengladbach, he has agreed a two-year contract after passing a medical.
Deportivo tie
Moore will not be eligible for Newcastle's Intertoto Cup campaign, but should they make it through he could play in the UEFA Cup. To do that, Newcastle must first overturn a 2-1 deficit in the home leg of their semi-final against RC Deportivo La Coruña on Wednesday and then beat S.S. Lazio or Olympique de Marseille.
