'Very happy'
The 23-year-old has signed a contract until summer 2008 with the UEFA Intertoto Cup entrants, having moved to Germinal Beerschot a year ago from CR Vasco da Gama in his homeland. Cadu scored nine goals last season as his team finished ninth in Belgium. He said: "I am very happy to play in Portugal and to represent Leiria. It is a great club with quality players and I believe we can all achieve good things this season."
Intertoto bow
His first task with Leiria will be in their Intertoto Cup campaign, which begins in the third round in a fortnight's time. They will encounter the winner of the tie between Hamburger SV and FK Pobeda.
