Djurgårdens IF have bolstered their squad ahead of the Swedish season run-in by signing South African international forward Siyabonga Nomvete. Nomvete arrives on loan from Italian outfit Udinese Calcio. "I'm happy to be here. I'm a quick striker who works hard and will do my best for the team," said the 27-year-old, who has scored 13 times in 54 appearances for South Africa.
US Lecce midfielder Guillermo Giacomazzi will be sidelined for at least four months after rupturing cruciate ligaments in his left knee in training. The 27-year-old Uruguayan, who underwent surgery on Monday, joined Lecce in 2001 and scored five goals in 34 games last term.
Sevilla FC forward Antoñito Ramiro will spend the 2005/06 campaign on loan at Real Racing Club Santander. The deal was closed after Sunday's Primera División match between the sides, which Sevilla won 1-0. Racing have an option to buy Antoñito for €2m next summer. The 27-year-old, a product of Sevilla's youth system, has fallen down the striking pecking order behind Javier Saviola, Frédéric Kanouté. Luis Fabiano and Kepa Blanco.
VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach of the Bundesliga have signed Brazilian striker Kahê for an estimated €1m from SE Palmeiras. The 23-year-old penned a three-year deal today. "He is a strong player and exactly the kind of striker we were looking for," said Sporting director Peter Pander.
Also in Germany, 1. FC Köln have re-signed Patrick Weiser from VfL Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee. The 33-year-old has inked a two-year contract. Weiser, who played for Köln from 1992-97, said: "I am delighted the transfer has finally been sorted out."
Wolfsburg, meanwhile, will complete the transfer of 19-year-old Brazilian striker Abuda on Tuesday. Wolfsburg have agreed a six-figure sum for the SC Corinthians player. Abuda is travelling to Germany and will sign a three-year contract with an option for two more.
Uruguay-based Haitian Pascal Pierre is to join French side FC Nantes Atlantique. The 24-year-old Pierre has played at CA Peñarol in Montevideo since January 2004. Nantes sit sixth in Ligue 1 having just avoided relegation last season.
Emil Sandoi has become the first coaching casualty of the Romanian First Division season after bottom club CS Pandurii Lignitul Târgu Jiu sacked him. Pandurii Lignitul are the only side without a point after four games. The 40-year-old was appointed in 2003 and led the team to promotion last term. His replacement is ex-Romanian international Nicolae Ungureanu who comes from second-division FC Caracal.
The 18-year-old Zambian international Clifford Mulenga has signed a one-and-a-half year contract with Sweden's Örgryte IS. The striker has six national-team caps, scoring once, and joins compatriots Boyd Mwila, Dominic Yobe and Edwin Phiri at the club.
Dunfermline Athletic FC have recruited Rangers FC goalkeeper Allan McGregor on a season's loan. The 23-year-old was Rangers' third choice behind experienced duo Ronald Waterreus and Stefan Klos. Dunfermline have also landed Ross County FC's 22-year-old utility player Jamie McCunnie, who follows fellow newcomers Liam Horsted and Yannick Zambernardi to East End Park.
