In other German news, 1. FC Köln have parted company with Hungarian international forward Attila Tököli, who has agreed a one-year contract with Cyprus's Anorthosis Famagusta FC, while VfB Stuttgart have let midfielder Elson join Brazilian side AA Ponte Preta on loan until the end of the season.

English Premiership newcomers West Ham United FC have landed left-sided midfielder Sekou Baradji on a one-year deal from Le Mans UC 72. West Ham have also handed a one-year contract extension to goalkeeper Jimmy Walker, despite the player being sidelined until the new year with a serious knee injury.

Fellow Londoners Charlton Athletic FC have taken former Arsenal FC, Coventry City FC and Blackburn Rovers FC striker Jay Bothroyd from AC Perugia. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

In Ukraine, FC Tavriya Simferopol have loaned striker Vadim Melnik from FC Metalurh Donetsk until the end of 2005. Melnik had only recently joined Metalurh from relegated FC Borysfen Borispol but was surplus to requirements after the arrival of FC Chornomorets Odesa and Ukraine forward Olexander Kosyrin.

France's OGC Nice have released striker Christophe Meslin who has signed for two seasons at Ligue 2 side SC Bastia, while ES Troyes Aube Champagne have allowed forward Nicolas Florentin to join SM Caen. FC Metz midfielder Alexandre Frutos has gone to English second division team Brighton and Hove Albion FC on a two-year deal.

Spanish club RCD Mallorca made two late additions to their squad, bringing in midfielder Cristiano Doni on loan from UC Sampdoria and frontman Jorge González 'Yordi' from Getafe CF. Italian international Doni and Yordi have inked one-year contracts. Meanwhile, centre-back Fernando Niño has left the islanders.

Elsewhere in Spain, Málaga CF have acquired Brazilian midfielder Anderson da Silva on loan from Everton FC until January, while RC Celta de Vigo have loaned S.S. Lazio's Argentinian defender Matías Lequi for the season with the Galician team securing an option to buy the player.

Scottish league leaders Heart of Midlothian FC have signed FC Sochaux-Montbéliard defender Ibrahim Tall. The Senegalese is Hearts manager George Burley's ninth summer recruit. Sochaux have also let Marcello Trapasso join Ligue 2 team LB Châteauroux.

Scottish champions Rangers FC have reduced their debt to €33.8m after announcing profits of €18.6m for the year ending 30 June 2005. Rangers had revealed debts of €108m in 2004. Meanwhile, Aberdeen FC attacker Steven Craig has left the club by mutual consent, and Livingston FC have taken Irish international striker Graham Barrett on a 12-month loan from Coventry.

Poland's Legia Warszawa have appointed Dariusz Wdowczyk as coach, with Jacek Zielinski stepping down to become his former international team-mate's assistant. However, sporting director Jacek Bednarz has parted company with the club following their UEFA Cup defeat by FC Zürich, and Wdowczyk will take on many of his responsibilities.

Elsewhere in the Ekstraklasa, MKS Cracovia SSA have sold midfielder Marcin Dudzinski to Górnik Zabrze but signed Mateusz Rzucidlo from Stal Rzeszów as well as the Górnik trio of defender Pawel Wojciechowski, forward Wojciech Okińczyć and midfielder João Paulo Heidemann.
