FC Bayern München equalled their own Bundesliga record of 13 wins in a row that dates back to 1981 with a 2-1 victory at 1. FC Nürnberg on Saturday.
Schalke defeat
On Sunday 13 March 2005 FC Schalke 04 fans were overjoyed after their side moved three points clear of Bayern as they defeated their title rivals 1-0. But since that day in Gelsenkirchen, Bayern have not dropped a point.
Two-point lead
In that time they have wrapped up the 2004/05 title, and earned a two-point lead over Werder Bremen in the current campaign, with Bayern the only Bundesliga team to have won all four games. They will now go for the outright league record next Saturday when Hannover 96 are the visitors to Munich, three days after their UEFA Champions League opener at SK Rapid Wien.
Magath ambition
Bayern coach Felix Magath said: "I am not really interested in records until we actually get the chance to equal or break them. We know that we won't win all 34 games this season but we will try to add as many wins as we can to our streak."
