Guerrero goal
Bayern extended their record-breaking run to 15 straight wins, but failed to impress as they struggled to a 1-0 success at promoted Eintracht Frankfurt. Indeed, after Arie van Lent had spurned two gilt-edged opportunities for the hosts, it took until the 72nd minute for substitute José Paolo Guerrero to make the breakthrough.
Werder upset
The victory increased Bayern's advantage at the summit ahead of Wednesday's matches, as Bremen went down 2-1 at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach. The night began well for Thomas Schaff's side, who took the lead through Belgian international Jelle van Damme on 21 minutes. Thomas Broich levelled after half-time before Bremen captain Frank Baumann hit an attempted clearance into his own net on the hour.
Rapid upturn
While Bayern carry on winning, Rapid - the team they beat 1-0 on Matchday 1 – made it half a dozen games without victory following a 2-2 draw at SK Sturm Graz. Nevertheless, it was an improved display by a Rapid side missing captain Steffen Hofmann with a thigh injury. The visitors came from behind twice through Radek Bejbl and Jozef Valachovič to earn a point.
