'The White Star' recorded wins against MKS Pogon Szczecin and KSP Polonia Warszawa before beating Lech Poznan 5-1 to strengthen their position as league leaders. The 22-year-old forward Pawel Brozek impressed against Poznan by scoring a hat-trick and Wisla now possess a three-point lead at the top. They also have a game in hand on all of their rivals - a derby against MKS Cracovia SSA.
Recovered Amica
Amica Sport have managed to recover after a 4-1 home defeat againstLech, beating Wisla Plock and Zaglebie Lubin in recent weeks. Their young Bulgarian forward Iliyan Mitsanski has impressed with three goals in as many games. Amica now sit second with 14 points.
Lech on fire
Aside from their defeat in Krakow, Lech have continued their successful start beating Amica and Górnik Zabrze. They are playing entertaining, attacking football, and are the Ekstraklasa's highest-scoring side at the moment, having scored 18 goals this season. Potent strike duo Piotr Reiss and Krzysztof Gajtkowski have six league goals each.
Legia wake up
Title contenders Legia Warszawa are recovering from a poor start which saw coach Jacek Zielinski replaced by Dariusz Wdowczyk. They won the Warsaw by beating Polonia 1-0 thanks to a penalty from Piotr Wlodarczyk. Meanwhile, Górnik Zabrze picked up six points in September and climbed to fifth. The team have been inspired by forward Arkadiusz Aleksander, who scored a goal and a hat-trick in wins against Polonia and Wisla Plock respectively.
Sensational Piechnia
League newcomers Korona Kielce have won four points in the last three games and have looked more comfortable in the top flight thanks to the sensational form of striker Grzegorz Piechna. The 29-year-old has found the net four times in September and tops the goal-scoring charts in Poland with seven goals.
Struggling Polonia and Arka
Polonia and league newcomers Arka Gdynia have recorded three straight defeats and have slumped to the bottom of the table. Elsewhere, coach Franciszek Smuda has replaced Dražen Besek at the helm of Zaglebie and has earned his team four league points in their last three games.
