Neururer's high hopes for Hannover

Members

Peter Neururer has pledged to do "everything I can" to bring success to Hannover 96 after being appointed the German club's new coach.

European experience
The 50-year-old was appointed last night following the departure of Ewald Lienen. Neururer, who was in charge of VfL Bochum 1848 until the summer, has signed a contract tying him to Hannover until 30 June 2007. While at Bochum, he took them to the 2004/05 UEFA Cup and he is keen to hit such heights again.

Good football
"I will do everything I can to make sure the club achieves the goals that have been set," Neururer said. "The team definitely belongs in the top ten. The club has had numerous injury problems to deal with, but has still played good football. I believe the team is capable of a lot more and we can achieve a lot together."

'Extremely proud'
Neururer will be assisted by Michael Schjønberg. The former Danish international defender, who won the German Cup with Hannover in 1992, added: "I am extremely proud to be part of the club again." The new regime will have to arrest a run of form that has seen Hannover take just six points from eight Bundesliga matches.
