Uwe Rapolder has followed the lead of general manager Andreas Rettig by quitting as coach of German Bundesliga strugglers 1. FC Köln, after a disappointing 3-2 defeat at former club DSC Arminia Bielefeld left them languishing near the foot of the table.

'Time to go'
The 47-year-old Swiss has picked up just three wins since taking the helm at the start of the season, and the loss at Arminia leaves the side level with MSV Duisburg and 1. FC Kaiserstautern on 12 points. After consideration, Rapolder decided it was time to move on, his decision coming less than 24 hours after Rettig quit as general manager. "I was getting the impression the team were no longer willing to do everything I asked of them any more," said Rettig. "It was time to go."
