PSV Eindhoven's lead at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie was reduced to a single point as the champions were unexpectedly held at home by FC Twente, allowing Feyenoord to close in.

First home setback
Guus Hiddink's side had won all nine of their previous home matches in the league this season, but fell behind to Twente four minutes before half-time as Bas Sibum's cross was turned in by Kennedy Bakircioglu to give the visitors an unexpected advantage. PSV captain Philip Cocu equalised with 20 minutes remaining but the Dutch champions were unable to find another goal and ultimately had to settle for a single point.

Feyenoord on form
PSV's slip allowed Feyenoord to cut the gap at the top to one point by overwhelming struggling Willem II 6-1. Despite the final margin of victory, the home side were unable to fashion a breakthrough until seconds before half-time when Dirk Kuijt headed in Jonathan de Guzman's corner kick, and scorer turned provider four minutes into the second period as Kuijt set up Sebastian Pardo to double the lead before Salomon Kalou made it 3-0 on the hour.

Kuijt treble
Martijn Reuser pulled one back midway through the second half before Kalou scored again and Kuijt struck two late goals to complete an impressive display from the Rotterdam club. FC Utrecht, meanwhile, climbed into fifth place with a 2-1 win at bottom club RBC Roosendaal, Nassir Maachi and Stefaan Tanghe scoring in each half for the visitors to render Ebou Sillah's late effort little consolation.
