'Quality player'
Pienaar, who has been capped 14 times by South Africa, has agreed a three-year deal beginning this summer when his contract with the Eredivisie side expires. He is expected to take over playmaking duties from Czech international Tomáš Rosický who is likely to leave Dortmund at the end of the season. "We are glad we could convince such a quality player to join us," Dortmund director of football Michael Zorc said.
Title winner
Pienaar moved to Ajax from feeder club Ajax Cape Town in January 2001 and has won two Dutch titles with the Amsterdam team. He has played in all six of Ajax's UEFA Champions League games this term, helping them advance to the Round of 16 where they will face FC Internazionale Milano.
